
About the Object
An abstracted view of a building under construction, this painting is part of a series inspired by a commission to document the construction of an office building. The building still stands at 100 Church Street in New York. This painting is one of two in the Collection from the series; the other painting, Construction #8 (VF2016.03.03), is horizontally oriented with a palette that features teal blue and white in addition to gray and black.

Three other works from the series are in public collections: Construction Steel, 1958, in the University of Cincinnati Art Collection, Construction #4 in the Tweed Museum of Art and Construction #5 in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
