About the Object
This sculpture retains defining traits from the Statue of Liberty’s face and crown, including the eye and surrounding contours. Isolated from the monument, these familiar forms alternate between figuration and abstraction. Fabricated in hammered copper using repoussé techniques similar to those used in the original statue, the work emphasizes fragility and construction rather than monumentality or wholeness.
