On December 10, 1,000 mirrored orbs, which had been suspended for more than a month from the ceiling of the Vilcek Foundation Gallery, were taken gently down and distributed to guests attending the closing reception of Senbazuru, the interactive installation envisioned by Japanese-born artist Toshiko Nishikawa. On hand to pass out these symbols of her perspective of humanity—that we are all connected within the global community—was the artist herself. Those who were unable to experience Senbazuru in person can explore the exhibit through photo and video content on the website.
The artist was born in Yokohama, Japan, and currently lives and works in New York City.
