We take great pride in our mission, to raise awareness of the perseverance, hard work, and outstanding achievements of immigrants in the arts and sciences in the United States. We find it especially rewarding when others recognize our efforts, a clear signal that we are fulfilling our goals. In the past several months,  three prestigious awards have been bestowed upon the Foundation, for which we are profoundly grateful.

Jan and Marica Vilcek were recognized last November by The Center for an Urban Future for “raising the profile of the positive contributions of immigrants in society, a vital effort at a time when so many are demonizing immigrants.” The Vilceks received the award at the Center’s annual anniversary gala, which celebrates New Yorkers whose commitment to the city make it a better place to live and work.

At its 17th Annual Washington, DC Immigrant Achievement Awards, in March, the American Immigration Council honored The Vilcek Foundation with its Stephen K. Fischel Distinguished Public Service Award. The AIC is dedicated to honoring the country’s immigrant history, and encouraging and guiding ongoing discourse around current immigration issues.

Jan Vilcek was presented, in June, with a 2012 Outstanding American by Choice award from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, whose mission is to pay tribute to naturalized citizens for their outstanding achievements and commitment to their adopted country.
