The Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts presented the Vilcek Foundation with an award for its “wonderful historic renovation” of a landmark carriage house, which serves as the Foundation’s headquarters and as a cultural center. Jan Vilcek, President and Cofounder of the Vilcek Foundation, graciously accepted the honor during an awards ceremony on March 18, 2008.

The Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts work to preserve the architectural legacy, livability and sense of place of the Upper East Side. During the building’s reconstruction, the Vilcek Foundation and its team of architects and contractors worked diligently to maintain the architectural integrity of the building and strike the right balance between preservation and renewal.
