About the Object
Using ballpoint pens, Il Lee uses gestural lines to build up the form and saturation of his compositions, creating dynamic, free-flowing abstract expressions. SBK-082 features an amalgamation of concentrated lines, creating organic shapes from geometric lines. The repeated yet imperfect forms create an asymmetrical pattern that is reminiscent of a wall of plant cells or a giraffe’s hide.
Additional Information
There is an architectural element to Lee’s work, as the repetition of geometric lines is also used to build forms, as well as the meticulous and focused methodology of his practice. The richness of the color that comes from the layering of ink creates an immersive sense of depth for the viewer as the eye hops from pool to pool.
