New York, July 1, 2013 — Today, the Vilcek Foundation launches the third annual dARTboard Call for Entries in Digital Art, open to foreign-born new media artists living permanently in the United States. The Foundation is now accepting submissions of digital and computer-based works for the dARTboard online art space on Vilcek.org, launched in 2012 to celebrate the accomplishments of immigrant artists pioneering the field of new media art.

The Vilcek Foundation welcomes artwork submissions by foreign-born artists working in a variety of new media formats. Categories of eligible work include, but are not limited to:

Net art

Mobile applications

New media installations/environments

Submissions will be reviewed by an expert in the field, and the chosen artist’s work will be exhibited on the dARTboard at Vilcek.org in early 2014. The artist will join the ranks of past winners Irina Danilova, a native of Ukraine, and Swiss-born artist-engineer Marc Böhlen. He or she will also receive an honorarium of $5,000.

In speaking of the dARTboard, Executive Director Rick Kinsel said, “The dynamism and creativity of immigrant artists in the United States — mirroring the constantly shifting plane of new media arts, itself — drives our efforts to venture again into the realm of digital art. Going into its third year, the dARTboard has already exhibited the work of two tremendously talented digital artists: Irina Danilova and Marc Böhlen. Now we look to the next cycle of this exciting initiative to attract the talents and vision of foreign-born artists who are leading the way into the future of new media arts.”

Eligibility requirements, in brief, are as follows:

Applicants must be foreign-born (originally foreign citizens) and be permanent U.S. residents (green card holders) or naturalized U.S. citizens.

Online applications must be submitted before 11:59pm EDT on October 21, 2013.

The online application is now available at Vilcek.org, where full details about eligibility and submission requirements are also provided.
