Earlier this month, our vice president and co-founder Marica Vilcek became the new chair of the Institute of Fine Arts Board of Trustees at New York University. She follows in the footsteps of previous chairs Judy Steinhardt and Stephen Lash.

Founded in 1932, the IFA is one of the world’s premier academic institutions for advanced research and graduate studies in art history, archaeology, and the conservation and technology of works of art. The faculty includes many prominent and internationally recognized scholars.

“Jan and I have been very involved, in one way or the other, with New York University ever since we arrived to this city,” said Marica. “I am honored to continue that relationship by working with the board and faculty of the Institute of Fine Arts.”

As the board chair, Marica will run the four annual board meetings and will work closely with the institute’s fundraising team. Before becoming chair, Marica served on the board for two years.

Marica brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the board. She was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 32 years, before retiring as the associate curator in charge of the Accessions and Catalogue Department; today she remains an honorary trustee of its board. She has also served as a consultant to various nonprofit organizations in the arts, such as the Commission for Art Recovery of the World Jewish Congress, and the Jordan National Gallery in Amman.

And, of course, she plays an integral role in the daily activities of the Vilcek Foundation, especially in the care and management of the Vilcek Foundation’s four art collections.

Congratulations to Marica!
