SALUTING BOLTON: Having largely worked behind-the-scenes since joining The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute as Curator in 2002, Andrew Bolton is about to step into the limelight as this year’s Vilcek Prize in Fashion winner. The Vilcek Foundation will honor the British-born New Yorker with the $100,000 prize as well as the Stefan Sagmeister-designed trophy at a ceremony in April.
Bolton said he was “incredibly surprised. I’ve never personally received an award before, and to be given one that is so generous and prestigious has been overwhelming. To know that the Vilcek Foundation has seen it fit to recognize the work my colleagues and I do at the Costume Institute has been extremely humbling. I couldn’t be happier.”
