Aloha! Arriving at the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) for the fifth year, the Vilcek Foundation is gratified to see how our partnership with HIFF grows as we continue to collaborate on the American Immigrant Filmmakers on Profile (AIFP) program.
This year, we are thrilled to welcome five talented individuals to the AIFP family: Bertha Bay-Sa Pan, director, producer, and writer of ALMOST PERFECT; Ian Gamazon, director and writer of LIVING IN SEDUCED CIRCUMSTANCES; Christoph Silber, producer and writer of MY LAST DAY WITHOUT YOU; Nadia Hennrich, editor and writer of SKATEISTAN: FOUR WHEELS AND A BOARD IN KABUL; and Mimi Chakarova, director, producer, and writer of THE PRICE OF SEX. In both feature and documentary films, these international filmmakers present a variety of compelling stories, ranging from a dysfunctional family and a one-day love story, set to music, to a documentary of how skateboarding brings hope to a war-torn country. If you haven’t done so already, check out the synopses and trailers of these films.
Curious about all that goes on in Honolulu, Hawaii, during the ten days of HIFF? We invite you to follow Vilcek Foundation representative Rick Kinsel as he makes the rounds at HIFF from October 13 to 23. You’ll get news at your fingertips, photos, videos, and exclusive scoops on all the AIFP movies and filmmakers!
