Andrew Jonas Sanders is the founder and principal attorney of Sanders Law Group, a New York law firm specializing in general corporate, entertainment, and intellectual property law matters, regularly serving as counsel to artists, composers and musicians, entertainment and media companies, nonprofit organizations, and arts-related institutions.
After graduating from the Cardozo School of Law in 1986 and working in private law firms in Geneva, Switzerland, and New York City, Sanders served as an attorney in the Office of General Counsel and later headed International Legal and Business Affairs for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) before moving to Sony/ATV Music Publishing and later to private law firms in New York. Sanders also served as counsel to various nonprofit jazz organizations and for many years regularly taught classes on art law at the Cooper Union, International Center of Photography (ICP), and other institutions.
In 1993, Sanders was instrumental in the launch of Art Projects International. Sanders launched the gallery with his spouse and partner, Jung Lee Sanders, who founded Art Projects International and served as the organization’s director for 31 years. As a New York–based contemporary art gallery and art advisory, Art Projects International has been a leader in establishing best practices for supporting and representing international and foreign-born artists in New York and in the global art market.
Andrew Jonas Sanders continues to serve as general counsel for Art Projects International, providing business and legal guidance in support of artists and the gallery’s activities worldwide.
Prior to joining the Board of Directors of the Vilcek Foundation, Sanders assisted and worked with President Rick Kinsel and the Vilcek Foundation on various legal matters to help facilitate exhibitions and protect the organization’s intellectual property, as well as the artists and creators in our networks.
