The Vilcek Foundation supported the “American Immigrant Filmmakers on Profile” at the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival. The new program featured six talented, foreign-born filmmakers and actors and their new films. The films included: Finishing the Game starring Dustin Nguyen and directed by Justin Lin; The Rebel directed by Charlie Nguyen; Owl and the Sparrow directed by Stephane Gauger; and The Gatekeeper of Enmyoin directed by Reiko Tahara and Max Uesugi.

During the Hawaii International Film Festival, the six filmmakers and actors shared stories of their journeys from their distant homelands to the forefront of American independent cinema. The new program supports the Festival’s mission to advance understanding and cultural exchange among the peoples of Asia, the Pacific, and North America through the medium of film.
