Seamus McKillop

Registrar & Manager of Collections, Exhibitions, Facilities

As registrar and manager of collections, exhibitions, and facilities, Seamus McKillop is responsible for the Vilcek Foundation art collection and the Jan T. and Marica Vilcek Collection. The collections comprise more than 400 objects ranging from 20th-century American paintings to pre-Columbian stone artifacts, spanning sculptures and works on paper by 20th- and 21st-century immigrant artists to Native American pottery from the 19th and early 20th century.

In his role, McKillop oversees all aspects of the collections and coordinates all aspects of foundation exhibitions, including art handling and storage, condition reporting, and exhibition installation, photography, and lighting. McKillop also works closely with the foundation curator on the development of the traveling exhibitions program.

McKillop is also responsible for operations and facilities management for the organization’s headquarters. In this capacity, McKillop oversees the maintenance, security, and upkeep of the Vilcek Foundation’s gallery spaces and offices at 21 East 70th Street, New York.

McKillop began working with the Vilcek Foundation as an intern while pursuing his BS in Marketing from Siena College. He joined the foundation on a permanent basis in 2011 as special projects assistant, providing support to staff and conducting research on numerous topics.
