Seamus McKillop

Registrar & Manager of Collections, Exhibitions, Facilities

As Registrar & Manager of Collections, Exhibitions, Facilities, Seamus McKillop is responsible for the Vilcek Foundation art collections, numbering over 400 pieces and growing, including the Jan and Marica Vilcek Collection of American Modernism, a promised gift to the foundation. Ranging from 20th-century American paintings to Pre-Columbian stone artifacts, contemporary pieces from immigrant artists to Native American pottery, the diverse collections require dedicated care and handling. Mr. McKillop oversees the registration of the collection, manages loans to institutions, travels as a courier with artwork, and supervises shipping and storage. He coordinates all aspects of foundation exhibitions, managing the logistics from conception and installation to deinstallation and dispersal.

Mr. McKillop first started at the Vilcek Foundation as an intern while working toward his BS in Marketing from Siena College. He joined the foundation on a permanent basis in 2011 as Special Projects Assistant, providing support to staff and conducting research on topics of interest, and assumed his current position as Registrar in 2014. Mr. McKillop’s volunteer service as a student helping his foreign-born peers acclimate gave him an understanding of the experience of newly arrived immigrants. His enthusiasm for sports adds another dimension to the foundation’s programs, as with the summer 2012 newsletter profiling the immigrant Olympians representing Team USA.
