Vilcek Foundation Announces Winners of the 2014 Prizes in Biomedical Science and Design

The Vilcek Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the annual Vilcek Prizes and Creative Promise Prizes, recognizing immigrant contributions to the American arts and sciences. The Vilcek Prize for the Arts, focusing on the field of design, is awarded to Neri Oxman. The Vilcek Prize for Biomedical Science goes to Thomas Jessell. Each prize includes a $100,000 cash award.

An exhibition of new works by Vietnamese-born photographer and mixed-media artist Brian Doan will open this fall at the Vilcek Foundation Gallery. Entitled hôme hôme hôme, the artist’s first solo exhibition in New York City will explore his lifelong struggle with national and individual identity and reflect upon his experiences both as a child in war-scarred Vietnam and later as a young Vietnamese immigrant to the United States.

Applications are now open for the 2016 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise! The eighth annual Creative Promise Prizes will be awarded in the fields of theatre and biomedical science. Three selected winners in each field will receive a $50,000 cash award.
